Your Changing Body for Girls

Event Description:
This program is designed for girls ages 9-12. Topics discussed will include: development of breasts and female reproductive organs, overall changes in the female body, menstruation – having your period, hygiene, sanitary pads and tampons, general hygiene and responsibility, breast cancer (incidence and self-breast exam). A brief discussion of puberty in boys will be reviewed to include the development of boys’ bodies and their reproductive organs. There are some pictures that show the difference between boys and girls. There is no discussion of sex, although a statement is made regarding sperm and egg fertilization. Also, a video is shown regarding a girl’s physical development and responsibility.
